For Main House guests breakfast is usually served in the dining room at Clive's hand-crafted timber dining table. However you may enjoy a private breakfast on your verandah or feel free to take a tray to the gazebo by the pool which looks out across two lilly-filled dams to the rainforests of Springbrook and the border between NSW and Queensland.

Hillcrest Honeymoon Spa Cottage has it's own fully equipped kitchen. standard breakfast provisions for 2 nights are included in our base rate, so you can save money by bringing your own food for the rest of your stay. If you prefer you can take our full Brunch Basket option and we will stock your kitchen for a sumptuous feast (2 night minimum - extra charge applies) or come to the main house to be served breakfast in our dining room.

Cottage guests also have a gas BBQ on their private verandah, so if you don't want to drive the 12 minutes into Murwillumbah for dinner then you can either order a candle-lit dinner from us or bring your own.

Cottage brunch basket option includes your choice of juice, a selection of cereals, pancake mix, fresh fruit or poached fruit (depending on time of year), waffles, maple syrup, a loaf of home-made bread delivered fresh daily (gluten free on request - advance notice please), smoked salmon, our own free range eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, selection of home-made preserves, butter, milk, local honey, selection of teas and fresh coffee. For longer stays we vary selections ~ or you name your preference and we'll do our best to oblige.

Breakfast Menu Varied Daily for Longer Term Stays with such items as Scrambled Egg with Smoked Salmon, Mushroom or Wild Herb Omelette, Warm Avocado & Tomato with Dill on Rye, or the "Full Monty" English Breakfast on Request.
 

Hillcrest is located just a short 12 minute drive from the centre of Murwillumbah where guests can choose from a wide range of restaurants, cafes, pubs and clubs. Both Hillcrest Cottage and Hillcrest B&B guest lounge have a booklet with menus from our recommended eateries, along with location maps to show you how to find them. In the other direction the village of Tyalgum has the quaint Flutterbies Cottage Cafe which is open for lunch most days, does amazing pizzas on a Friday night and hosts special dinner parties regularly.

If dinner dancing is your style, then you should arrange your stay to take in the first Saturday of the month when Luffley Cafe run their Latin Dinner Dances during summer. Fully licensed and with an excellent dinner menu, you'll enjoy live music and al fresco dancing long into the night.

If guests prefer not to travel into town for dinner, they can order one of our candle-lit dinners which include a carafe of house wine ~ please be aware that we need at least 48 hours notice for in-house dining and that we can only offer one menu choice per evening. As Hillcrest Cottage guests have their own fully equipped kitchen and gas bbq they are free to bring their own food if they wish.

Candle-lit dinners can usually be arranged at Hillcrest.
Our food is more "Two Fat Ladies" than Gordon Ramsay
meaning we serve hearty home-made food on dinner plates, not little dollops of  "nouveau cuisine" on giant white platters

All choices served with a carafe of house wine

Port and "something chocolate" for you to enjoy with your Coffee
